One question I routinely ask people is, "What's your favorite movie?" I'm generally fascinated by the different movies they respond with. But one response that I never could quite understand is, "I don't have one."
What?!? I can understand if you have it narrowed down to two... or even three... but to not have any at all???
Perhaps the reason I have such a hard time grasping this concept is because I have had the same favorite movie for more than a decade. And despite watching some truly great movies since then, nothing has ever really gotten that close to surpassing my favorite of all time -- The Shawshank Redemption.

I've probably watched The Shawshank Redemption over 20 times start-to-finish. In fact, I purposely just watched it before posting this blog entry. It NEVER gets old.
I love the movie so much that I actually wrote a song about it back in college. I even took it a step further and made a tribute video using my song and scenes from the actual movie. The result (from 2007) is what you see below:
