'A Quiet Place' Creates a Memorable Place in my Heart

As a general rule of thumb, I don't like movies of the Horror genre...

It's not that I'm scared of being scared. I just simply think most of them are unwatchable. They either rely too much on gore, or the screenplay simply sucks.

Fortunately, the long-standing curse of awfulness ended earlier this month when I finally had the opportunity to watch A Quiet Place.

When it comes to movies or TV shows, I try to refrain from calling something the BEST EVER, because our tastes are so subjective. So I'll, simply say that A Quiet Place may be my FAVORITE horror film of all time (and also perhaps my favorite movie I've seen period in the past 3 years.) Five Events/Things that Impacted My 2017

You never really know what's going to happen from one year to the next. I think we all have an idea, but it's the things you least expect that are often the most impactful to you due to their surprising nature.
So when reflecting on this past year, I tried to pinpoint FIVE THINGS that were unique to 2017 that had an impact on me. (In other words, saying generic topics like "work" or "fatherhood" were not options.) Here's what I came up with:

Ranking the 19 Pixar Movies

I love movies. I love lists. Naturally, I love lists of movies.

It's the reason I've accomplished frivolous feats such as watching all 89 movies to win BEST PICTURE at the Academy Awards. Or why I've watched all 100 movies on the American Film Institutes list of 100 Greatest Movies - both the original in 1998 and the updated version in 2007.

Earlier this year, after a discussion with some friends, I decided to watch all the Pixar movies. At the time of the discussion, I had only watched 12 of the 18 movies. But over the past 4 months, I got around to watching the other six. And then this past weekend, I took my 3-year-old son to watch his very first theatrical movie... Coco.

(Sidebar - the act of taking him to the movie was terrible. Thank goodness for my wife!)

So that makes 19 Pixar movies in the book! Naturally, the only thing left to do is to rank them:
