My Thoughts on 'The Office' Finale

It's really a shame how my attitude changed over the past two years in regards to The Office. At it's peak, it was not only my favorite show -- but I considered it my favorite show of all-time.

Unfortunately, the James Spader experiment and some really bad plots deluded my overall impression of the show. This season, it was probably ranked #4 among all the sitcoms I watch.  (And heck, I only watch five.)

But over the past three weeks, it finally picked up steam again. And I'm thrilled to say that after last week's series finale, I was left with an extremely positive impression of the show.

It was very funny. It warmed my heart. And several of the storylines wrapped up exactly the way they should have. Plus Steve Carrell's cameo was perfectly done.

For the first time since 2011, the show left me wanting more... But with that said, I'm glad there won't be any more. It was a perfect ending for a show that was nearly perfect in Seasons 2 & 3.

I'll need a couple years before I can actually step back and give The Office a proper ranking among my all-time favorite shows. I can only speculate where it will ultimately be. But thanks to an outstanding finale, I'll be able to forgive the show for some of the missteps that were taken in Seasons 8 & 9.

Job well done to the writers, cast, and crew. Thank you for a great show.
