I just finished watching my favorite team in all of sports, the Atlanta Braves, complete one of the worst collapses in baseball history. This is one of those times where it really sucks to be a sports fan.
My hopes appeared well on their way to reality. Towards the end of August, the Braves were on pace to win 97 games. They had a 10 1/2 game lead in the wild card.
Then they went 9-18 in the month of September, finishing with just 89 victories. The St. Louis Cardinals passed them, winning 90. Now the Atlanta Braves have played their final game in 2011.
I could tell you all why the Braves blew their wild card lead. But I don't think most of you really care nor do I want to relive the last month.
Being bad for the whole season is one thing, but to collapse like this strikes a nerve that nothing else can. Yes, I know the actual Braves players feel terrible. I'm not blaming them. It is what it is.
For all the great highs I get from being a sports fan, this is a night where I wish I didn't even know what ESPN was. This is a night where it really sucks to be a Sports fan.
I'm sleeping good tonight.......ESPN, what?? ;)
